After weeks of investigation, a Tullahoma man has been arrested on charges of breaking into Cedar Lane Church of Christ in late April.
Michael Cyree, 37, of Breckenbridge Drive was arrested Friday afternoon by Investigator Ty Brazier and charged with the April 30 crime. Cyree is charged with burglary, felony theft and vandalism and is being held in the Coffee County Jail under a $115,000 bond.
Cyree is accused of entering the church building and knocking a hole in the wall to the secretary’s office and stealing more than $20,000.
There have been seven churches in all broken into in Tullahoma. They are Cedar Lane Church of Christ, Covenant Presbyterian Church on Highway 55, Trinity Lutheran Church on Wilson Avenue, Faith Lutheran Church on Bragg Circle, Westside Nazarene Church on Westside Drive, King Cross Church on Turkey Creek Road and the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints on the Old Shelbyville Highway.
According to Lt. Jason Ferrell, the investigation into other church burglaries is continuing and investigators are following up on several leads they have developed during the investigation. “Other charges are pending in the other burglaries” Ferrell stated.
