Police Continue To Search For Information In Murder Of Tullahoma Woman
Franklin County investigators are continuing to investigate the early July 2nd death of a 24-year-old nursing student Megan Sharpton. They say they still need information to lead them to a suspect or suspects in the slaying. Sheriff Detectives and TBI agents have conducted “more than two dozen” interviews since her burning body was found by a passing motorist. Franklin County Sheriff’s spokesperson Sgt. Chris Guess says investigators are still awaiting results from an autopsy and an examination of Sharpton’s 1995 Ford Mustang performed by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Initial autopsy results indicated she was killed by “blunt force trauma” to her head. TBI spokeswoman Kristin Helm said the state agency cannot release any details now. She stated that she can only say they have evidence that still needs to be processed that may give us a forensic lead. Her cellphone records are being examined, but Guess would not elaborate. And authorities also are trying to determine what type of chemical was used to set the woman’s body on fire. No combustible items were found at the site. Authorities ask anyone with information related to the investigation to contact the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at 931-967-2331 or the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation at 1-800-824-3463.
Update On Grundy County Murder
On Sunday, July 29, Grundy County residents Kurt Brewer, 31, and Corey Henry, 30, allegedly had been arguing all day. At approximately 5:30 p.m. at a residence on 60th Avenue North in Gruetli-Laager at the home of an acquaintance of Henry where he and others were gathered for a cookout, Brewer, who had called Henry and threatened him several times, came to the residence and allegedly shot Henry.
When authorities arrived, they found Henry with multiple gunshot wounds to his leg and back. He was airlifted to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga where he later died.
Authorities said Brewer was not at the shooting scene when officers got there on Sunday, but he was taken into custody a short time later at his home not too far away.
Mike Taylor, 12th Judicial District Attorney General, said that a weapon recovered at the scene has been sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) crime lab. Henry’s body has also been sent to the TBI for examination.
Brewer was charged with first-degree murder and is scheduled to appear in Grundy County General Sessions Court, where a bond could be set.
According to residents, the two men had been best friends for years and cannot understand how this could possibly have happened.

Grand Opening For Stan McNabb
Everyone is invited to the Grand Opening of the newly-remodeled Stan McNabb Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac dealership at 2000 N. Jackson Street in Tullahoma this Friday and Saturday. The McNabb dealership has been family owned and operated since 1980.
“There will be something for everyone both days,” according to Trent McNabb, son of owners Stan and Jamie McNabb and General Manager of the dealership. “We will offer refreshments both days and door prizes, including a large flat screen TV, iPad, Apple TVs and Garmins. Of course, we will offer tours of the new building. A special treat will be an appearance by two Tennessee Titans’ cheerleaders from noon to 2 pm Saturday,” said McNabb.
“We want to invite all our customers from the past 32 years, and even if you have never purchased a vehicle here, you have an invitation to attend as well. We are very pleased with the new building and want to give everyone a chance to see this state-of-the-art facility. The whole building is very inviting and flows very nicely,” said McNabb.
“It’s hard to believe but this building is the culmination of 32 years of experience at this location,” said Stan McNabb. “Everything has been designed with the customer in mind, from the new color scheme, new floors, furniture and signage. It’s more accessible, more modern, more attractive. On either side of the front of the building are two features very important to customers. On the left is our delivery pavilion. The pavilion allows sales professionals to introduce customers to their new vehicle in a covered area away from bright sun or rain. On the right are our three Service Lanes. This is a new concept designed to let our service customers pull inside and get out of their vehicles without braving the elements. In the middle is our customer lounge, complete with comfortable chairs and fresh coffee, where customers can read newspapers, magazines, or watch TV. ”
Stan McNabb says he has always been guided by four themes: the customer comes first, provide excellence in all we do, generously give back to the communities we serve, and take care of our employees.
The dealership is located at 2000 N. Jackson Street. For more information about this weekend’s Grand Opening, call 931-455-3451.
