The Coffee County Middle School Red Raider basketball season came to an end on Wednesday in the semifinal round of the CTC tournament. Taking on top-seeded South Franklin, Coffee County gave the favored Trojans all they could handle for 3 quarters. But foul trouble and turnovers in the 4th quarter cost the Raiders in a 35 to 23 loss.
Coffee Middle got off to a hot start as they led 10 to 1 after 1 quarter. South rallied to cut the lead to 1 with 1 minute left in the half but Coffee County held that advantage going into intermission. The Trojans took a 19 to 18 lead with 2:38 left in the 3rd quarter and never surrendered control after that.
Coffee County was led in scoring by Hayden Garr, Dayne Crosslin and Jacob Holder who all finished with 6 points. The loss ends the Red Raiders’ season. Coffee Middle finished the year with a record of 10 to 10.
