A pair of runs in the bottom of the 7th inning spoiled the upset bid for the Coffee County Middle School baseball team on Tuesday night as they fell 3 to 2 to top-seeded Warren County in the 2nd round of the CTC baseball tournament.
Tied at 1 entering the 6th inning, Coffee County got a single from Jalen Morris to lead off the inning. Morris moved to 3rd on a double from Hayden Skipper and scored on an RBI groundout from Brandon Jernigan. The Raiders took that lead into the bottom of the 7th only to see Warren County use a walk and 3 hits to score 2 runs and avoid the upset at the hands of Coffee County.
Morris led Coffee County in hitting as he had a pair of singles and scored a run. Skipper’s double and Braxton White’s single were the only other hits for Coffee County as the Raiders were held to 4 hits. Jernigan and Griffin Meeker each had an RBI for Coffee Middle.
The Red Raiders will be back in action on Thursday night at 7:30 PM when they will play in an elimination game at Warren County Middle School.
