For the 2nd time in 2 weeks, the Coffee County Middle School tennis team squared off against the Westwood Middle School tennis team on Tuesday afternoon at the Raiders’ home court behind the Raider Academy. And for the 2nd time this season, the Raiders and Lady Raiders came out on top in the team battle.
In girls play, Coffee County dropped the Lady Rockets 5 to 1. Westwood’s lone win came in singles as Lauren Perry dropped Kylie Brown 6-3. The Lady Raiders got singles wins from Jayda Wright, Alise Clark and Anna Amado and a pair of doubles wins from the teams of Sydney Bell /Arianna Hansen and Macy Brown/Alexis Clark.
In boys’ action, the Raiders claimed a 4 to 2 decision. Braeden Massicotte won a 7 to 6 tiebreaker and Ricardo Ayala got a 6 to 3 win for the Rockets’ 2 match wins. For Coffee County; Joseph Sadler, Luke Irwin, Jaden Talley got singles wins while Sadler and Talley paired up for a win in the lone doubles match of the day.
Coffee County is back in action on Thursday when they travel to Sewanee to take on St. Andrew’s at 4 PM. Westwood returns to the court on Friday, April 29th when they take on Tullahoma in Tullahoma for a 4 PM match.
