A pair of 1st half goals was enough to lift the Westwood soccer team to a 2 to 0 win over North Franklin on Tuesday night in Winchester. Facing blustery conditions and gusting winds on a small field, the Rockets “had to manufacture goals in creative ways” said coach Jonathan Graf following the contest. Angel Gonzalez chipped a ball over the Gator keeper in 3rd minute and Leo Basurto drilled a screaming “worm burner” into the back of the net in the 16th minute for the Westwood goals. The win improves the Roackets record to 8 and 0 on the season. Jalen Shelton scored on a penalty kick in the JV game to give Westwood a draw with the North JV. The Rockets travel to Sewanee on Thursday for a 3 PM match with St. Andrew’s – Sewanee.
