Beverly Ann Jones, of Tullahoma, passed away on Thursday, November 6th, 2014 at Harton Regional Medical Center at the age of 82 from complications of congestive heart failure.
She was the daughter of the late Zephy Katherine Hickman Jones and W.J. “Bill” Jones.
She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and lived briefly in Atlanta, Georgia and Chattanooga as a child, but spent the majority of her life in Tullahoma. She loved to talk about her memories of the “old days” in Tullahoma, especially during World War II. She was a graduate of Tullahoma High, the class of 1950, Middle Tennessee State University, and completed post-graduate work in Library Science at Peabody College. Beginning in high school, she worked periodically as a clerk and cashier in her father’s grocery stores in Tullahoma, Model Food Market and Bill’s Farm and Home Market. She taught second grade for several years at the former South Jackson Elementary School and was the librarian at College Hill Elementary School in Columbia, Tennessee for several years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Tullahoma.
Ms. Jones is survived by her sister, Sandra Jones Hester (Tom) of Lucasville, Ohio; nephews, Brian (Jody) Hester of Hamilton, Ohio, and Derek (Kathleen) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; great-nephews, Ethan Hester of Hamilton, Ohio, and Cole Hustad Hester of Minneapolis, Minnesota; great-niece, Allison Hester of Hamilton, Ohio; and numerous cousins.
The family wishes to thank the many medical professionals who cared for Beverly over the years as well as the staff at Morning Pointe of Tullahoma during her time there.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am-1:00 pm on Saturday, November 15th, 2014 at Kilgore Funeral Home.
According to Beverly’s wishes, graveside services will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
Bro. Jack Hice, a high school classmate of Beverly’s, will conduct the graveside service.
