The Westwood Middle School softball team welcomed Moore County to Lady Rocket Field on Friday for a makeup contest from Monday. The Lady Rockets made a valiant comeback effort before falling in the conference matchup. Westwood lost by a final score of 7 to 6.
With Moore County leading 3 to 1 entering the 6th inning, the visiting Lynchburg ladies erupted for 4 runs to stun the Lady Rockets. Westwood responded with 5 runs of their own in the bottom of the 6th inning to cut the deficit to 1 run. In the 7th, the Rockets could not get a runner in scoring position as they dropped just their 2nd loss of the year in conference play. Emma Kidder led the Rockets in hitting with a double and 2 singles. Paisley Campbell had a double and 2 RBI.
The Lady Rockets will have a rematch with Moore County on Wednesday in Lynchburg. First pitch is set for 4 PM.
