In a middle school softball doubleheader that took a week to complete, the Lady Rockets of Westwood got a split with Fayetteville City on Monday afternoon.  Last Monday’s game at Westwood was halted due to darkness with the score tied at 20.  The 2 teams agreed to resume the contest on Monday in Fayetteville prior to the regularly schedule game between the 2 teams.  Sarah West reached base when she was hit by a pitch to lead off the 8th inning.  After stealing second and moving to 3rd base on a passed ball, West was driven home by Alex Hershman to give Westwood a 21 to 20 win.  Haley Miller was 4 for 6 in the extended game with 2 RBI while West and Hershman finished 3 for 4.  Hershman had 4 RBI while West and Carlee Sullivan each finished with 3 RBI.  In the 2nd game, Westwood battled back from a 5 to 1 deficit to cut the Tigers lead to 8 to 6 before a late rally pushed Fayetteville to an 11 to 7 win.  The Lady Rockets banged out 9 hits as Danielle Baker led the way with 3 hits including a double.   Alex Hershman was 2 for 4 with a double as well.  The Lady Rockets will travel to Shelbyville on Wednesday for a 5 PM game with Liberty.  The conference tournament is set to get underway on Friday at Fayetteville.
