The Westwood Rockets got 2 touchdown passes from 7th grade quarterback Jake Hollandsworth but it was not enough to overcome Cascade as the Rockets fell 30 to 12. Cascade scored on their first 2 drives of the game to race out to a 14 to 0 lead on a game heard here on Thunder Radio.
The Rockets responded quickly as Marcus Pendleton ripped off a 61 yard run before Hollandsworth connected with Joey Rhea on an 18 yard touchdown pass with 5 minutes remaining in the first half. Trailing 14 to 6 at the half, the Rockets were set to receive the kick to begin the second half. A turnover on the 2nd half kickoff was the first of 3 second half turnovers which spelled doom for a Westwood comeback. Hollandsworth did connect on his second TD pass in the 3rd quarter as he hit Byron Sullivan on a post route for a 73 yard TD completion. Sullivan finished 106 total yards to earn the Gateway Tire and Service Center player of the game honors. With the loss, Westwood’s record falls to 3 and 2 on the season. The Rockets travel to Unionville on Thursday for a 6:30 PM kickoff against Community.
