sports action 2The Coffee Middle School Soccer team got a season sweep over Tullahoma on Tuesday with a 2 to 1 win at Coffee Middle. After a scoreless first half; Tullahoma broke through on a penalty kick in the 33rd minute by Cassidy Conner. The Lady Raiders fought back leveling the score in the 45th minute on a goal by Reagan Ellison. The Lady Raiders got the winning goal by Lindsey Perry in the 49th minute as she redirected a corner kick from Morgan Henley for the game winner. Perry led Coffee County in shots with 3 to earn the Gateway Tire and Service Center player of the game honors. With the win, the Lady Raiders improved their record to 7-0-1 on the year. The Westwood soccer team dropped a hard fought 2 to 0 decision in Huntland on Tuesday. The Lady Rockets held the Hornets to single goals in each half but could not get a shot past the keeper. The Lady Rockets travel to Bell Buckle on Thursday to take on The Webb School. Kickoff is at 4:30 PM.

The CHS Volleyball swept Franklin County on Tuesday night to stay perfect in District 8-AAA play. The Lady Raiders dominated play from the service line and the net to win 25 to 17, 25 to 11 and 25 to 11. The Lady Raiders had 23 aces on the match as Cameron Davis had 7 and Brittany Williams served 6. Sydney Pearson and Valiana Barger each had 7 kills. Maddie Taylor had 5 digs and Tyger Fenton added 4. Brittany Williams led the team in assists with 12. Coffee County will play host to Fayetteville on Thursday night beginning at 6:00 PM.

After a scoreless first quarter, Coffee County Middle School football scored four 2nd quarter touchdowns en route to a 42 to 8 defeat of South Franklin on Tuesday night. Josh Sanders got an 8 yard touchdown run with 7:30 left in the half followed by a 60 yard TD run from Weston Hargroves 2 minutes later. Andrew Mahaffey added a 36 yard TD run and then a 50 yard TD pass to Trace Bryant to close out the 1st half scoring at 28 to 0. The Raiders got 2nd half touchdowns from Tanner Hulvey and Hayden Skipper to close out the scoring. With the win, Coffee County improved to 4 and 1 on the year and keeps their hopes alive for a berth in the conference championship game. The Red Raiders will be at home next Tuesday night as they play host to North Franklin. That game is set to kick off at 6:30 PM.

In high school District 8-AAA soccer last night the Lady Raiders lost at home to Shelbyville Golden Eagles 8-0. Next up for Coffee County is a road trip to Cascade on Thursday beginning at 7pm. On Tuesday September 18th the Lady Raiders play host to Lawrence County and Thunder Radio will broadcast that game live with Dennis Weaver.
