Spring Sports Teams Hold Post Season Banquets

The end of the spring sports season means end of year awards banquets as five spring sports teams have celebrated their seasons in the last few days.

The Coffee County Middle School baseball team met on Saturday night at Boskey’s Grill to pay tribute to the 2015 season. Head coach Rodney Meeker and assistant coaches Ryan Gilmer, Adam Floid and Todd Watkins heaped praise on the Red Raider team for a season of accomplishments. Letters of participation and team awards were presented for both the Varsity and JV teams. Winning awards for the Junior Varsity were:
Offensive MVP – Garrett Davis
Defensive Award – Dylan Koon
Most Improved – Trey Rogers
Most Improved – Braden Brown
King Of The Hill – Griffin Meeker
and All Academic( A’s for entire year) – Griffin Meeker, Trey Rogers and Braxton White

Defensive MVP – Colton Kerber
Most Improved – Trace Bryant
King Of The Hill – Harley Hinshaw

The Coffee County Central High School tennis team honored their men’s and women’s teams with a banquet at the Hickerson Station Church of Christ on Monday night. Coach Mike ray and assistant coach Audra Brown presented the district doubles runner up plaques to Alex Crossland and Savannah Hodge as well as varsity letters to both teams in addition to team awards. Team award winners were:
Newcomer of the Year – Shilp Patel
Most Improved Player – Easton Mai
Most Improved Player – Savannah Hodge
Coaches Award – Trevor Ivey-Bodman
Coaches Award – Ali Shelton
Coaches Award – Kayla Wright
Gateway Tire & Service Center Horizon Award – Alex Crossland
Gateway Tire & Service Center MVP- Maddie Taylor

The Coffee County Central High School soccer team celebrated their region tournament appearance with a banquet on Tuesday night at Forrest Mill Church of Christ. Head coach Robert Harper and assistant coaches Andy Escue and Nick Hibdon presented varsity letters along with recognizing the all-district players and the presentation of team awards. Additionally, a TSSAA Distinguished Scholastic Achievement Award was given to each team member. This award was presented to the Red Raiders because the cumulative grade point average (GPA) for the team was higher than 3.25 for the 2014-2015 school year. Additionally, 17 Red Raiders received the TSSAA Student-Athlete Award of Merit for maintaining a 3.5 GPA for the school year. Those 17 student-athletes had a 3.84 GPA with 7 students having a perfect 4.0 including CHS’ valedictorian, Krishna Patel. The TSSAA Student-Athlete Award of Merit winners are: Mason Boals, Ben Reid, Abelen Barrera, C.J. Frazier, Ethan Abplanalp, Ernesto Gomez, Samuel Brown, Miguel Mendoza, Max Nicoll, Paco Barrera, John Parigger, Sergio Iriondo, Krishna Patel, Scott Randolph, Cody Howes, Christian Parks and Tyler Walker

1st Team – Breyer Taylor, Cole Hawkins and Lafredo Ramirez
2nd Team – Ernesto Gomez, Abelen Barrera and Cody Howes
District 8AAA Freshman of the Year – Ben Reid

The Coffee County Central High School baseball team held their end of year banquet at Farrar Hill Farms on Tuesday night as the 9 members of the senior class were honored as well as all of the varisty and junior varsity players. Head coach Jon Spears and assistant coach Jeff Hinshaw presented varsity letters along with recognizing the all-district players and the presentation of team awards.
Named to the District 8AAA All-District Team was Trace Friedlein
Team award winners were:

Co-pitchers of the year – JP Duncan and Trace Friedlein

The Coffee County Middle School softball team met at Boskey’s Grill on Wednesday night to celebrate their Central Tennessee Conference Championship and honor the 2015 Lady Raiders. Head coach Lana Creek and assistant coach Linda Cooper handed out a certificate of participation for each player along with a CTC Championship medallion. Also recognized were the 4 members of the CTC All-Conference team. All-Conference team members are: Gracie Pippenger, Erin Ferrell, Haley Richardson and Amanda Mukai.
