Senior Kyle Douglas pitched a fantastic game Wednesday at Powers Field as Coffee County got past Lawrence County 2-1 in District 8-AAA baseball. Douglas struck out 13 Wildcat batters. Hunter Smithson was the hitting star for the Raiders as he had 2 hits, scored a run and had the game winning RBI. Smithson was named the Gateway Tire and Service Center player of the game.

Coffee County improved to 11-12 overall and 5-4 in district play. The same two teams play again Thursday starting at 5:30pm in Lawrenceburg.
In high school softball Coffee County traveled to Lawrence County for district action. The Lady Raiders scored one run in 1st inning and two more in the 4th for 3-0 lead. That score would hold up behind the no-hit pitching from Brianna Jones as Coffee County defeated the Lady Wildcats 3-0. Jones had 13 strikeouts in her 4th no-hitter of the year.
Bethany Baker and Kaylee Skipper had 2 hits each.
The Lady Raiders at 15-7 on the year play in the Border Battle Thursday night in Lincoln County. Game one against Sale Creek at 5:30pm and they face Oakland at 7pm.
The Coffee County tennis team fell to Lincoln County on Wednesday. The boys lost 6-1 with the Kyle and Matt Johnson were the only winners in doubles action. The girls lost a heartbreaker 4 to 3. Abby Ferrell was a winner both in singles and then doubles action with Karlee Reed. Maddie Taylor was also a winner on the singles side.

The Westwood soccer team got hat tricks from Paco Barrera and Leo Botello each as the Rockets rolled up Cascade 8 to 0 on Wednesday night at Dyer Bouldin Field. Julio Guzman and Ethan Apblanalp each notched goals as Westwood won their first round game in the Duck River Valley Conference tournament. With the win, Westwood advanced to the semifinals of the conference tournament on Monday being held in Fayetteville at Riverside Christian.
The Coffee Middle baseball team took on rival Tullahoma on Wednesday in a doubleheader at Tullahoma’s Greene Field. In Game 1, the Raiders were held to 5 hits, including a double by A.J. Rollman and 2 singles by Jacob Langham as they lost 2 to 0. Nathaniel Tate took the hard luck loss allowing only 1 hit. In Game 2, the Raiders bats woke up to notch a 5 to 2 win and improve their season record to 14 and 4. Alontae Taylor scattered 3 hits while striking out 13 Wildcats. Tate had a 2 run homer to cap off a four run 3rd inning for Coffee Middle. The Raiders will be back in action on Thursday afternoon at 4:30 as they play host to White County at Fred Deadman Park.
