Motlow Hires New Women’s Basketball Coach

Former Motlow College player and assistant coach Dominic Tharpe has been named the new head coach of the Lady Bucks’ basketball team, according to Tori Raby-Gentry, athletic director at the College. He was selected from a large group of outstanding candidates to help revitalize the Lady Bucks’ program, and brings vast experience to the position, including one year as an assistant at Motlow under former coach Bobby Steinburg during the 2006-07 season. Manchester Youth Baseball All-Stars Continue Preparations For State Tournament

The Manchester 11 & 12 year All Star team battled Tullahoma to a 15 to 15 tie on Tuesday night at Fred Deadman Park in their 2nd scrimmage of the summer. Manchester scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th to take a 15 to 14 lead, but as scrimmages are designed, Manchester wanted to get one more inning of defensive work. Three Teams Headed To State Babe Ruth Tornament

Three Tullahoma Babe Ruth League baseball teams battled their way into their respective state tournaments after becoming district champions. The Tullahoma 15-year-old squad was the first to cash in on its opportunity with an 11-6 win over Franklin County. They will begin its tournament on July 18 in Lebanon. Motlow Bucks Sign Two More Players

Jordan Darden and Jacob Saunders were teammates at Cheatham County High School the last three years and enjoyed tremendous success, including leading their team to an undefeated regular season, three straight district titles and two consecutive trips to the sectional round of the state playoffs. Motlow College men’s basketball head coach Matt Sligh hopes the two will bring that winning mentality and ability to his Bucks basketball team as both Darden and Saunders have been signed to continue their student-athlete careers at Motlow. Preparations are already underway for three Manchester Youth Baseball LeagueAll Star teams as they prepare for their respective TYBA State Tournaments coming up later this month.  All 3 teams received their first round game time and opponent. The All Star team coaches were nominated and selected by the other coaches in the league and approved by the MYBL board. Westwood Middle Adding Two Sports

14U Red Raiders Compete In State Tournament

The 14U Coffee County Red Raider summer baseball team competed in the Tennessee BPA State Baseball Tournament this weekend held in Murfreesboro and Franklin. The Raiders split their 2 Saturday contests, falling to Murfreesboro Assault 4 to 3, before beating Strikezone White by a final score of 7 to 2. In the opening game, Ryan Farless allowed only 4 hits over 6 innings taking the tough luck loss.
