Controlling the ball for 80% of the scrimmage was not enough as the Westwood Rockets football team fell 14 to 6 to Mt. Pleasant on Friday night in the Cascade Jamboree. Jace Peterson’s three-run home run in the fifth inning gave the Braves the lead and they never looked back in Sunday’s 6-2 victory over the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park, preventing the sweep and ending Atlanta’s six-game losing streak. After 12 innings of back-and-forth play, the Nashville Sounds fell 5-4 to the Iowa Cubs at First Tennessee Park on Thursday night. The Sounds scored twice in the third inning to start the scoring. Friday night football returns as the Westwood Rockets and Coffee County Middle School Raiders will take part in scrimmages on the road on Friday evening. The Raiders of Coffee County Middle School will travel to Smyrna on Friday afternoon for a scrimmage with Rock Spring Middle School. The Raiders are also looking to take part in a jamboree next weekend at Grundy County.
