Turnovers and fouls in the 2nd quarter spelled doom for the Westwood Rocket basketball team as they dropped a 46 to 30 decision to Forrest on Thursday night in the home opener at the Joel Vinson Gym. Isaiah Owens nailed a 3 pointer in the waning seconds of the 1st quarter to give Westwood an 11 to 10 lead entering the 2nd period. The Coffee County Middle School 6th grade boys’ basketball team opened their regular season on Tuesday night with a 30 to 21 win over North Franklin. The Red Raiders, who trailed by 3 points at the half, used a 19 point second half to overcome a fast starting Gator squad. The 2nd Annual Homecoming on the Square will be held Thursday night beginning at 5:30 as the Coffee County Homecoming Week festivities wind to a close on Friday night as Coffee County hosts Warren County at Carden-Jarrell Field.
