A hot shooting performance in the 2nd half propelled the Huntland Lady Hornets to a 36 to 34 defeat of Westwood on Monday night. The Lady Rockets built a 19 to 13 halftime lead, only to see Huntland pour in 17 points in the 3rd quarter to take a 3 point lead into the 4th quarter. Trailing by 7 points entering the 4th quarter, the 6th grade Lady Raider basketball team used a 15 point 4th quarter and a 6 point overtime to stun White County in Sparta on Monday night by a final score of 34 to 28. The Lady Raiders, who were held scoreless in the first quarter, got 15 points in the 4th quarter, led by 7 points from Marley Perry. Four first half touchdowns by Blackman’s Taeler Dowdy, including one on the opening kickoff, powered the Blackman Blaze to a 35 to 0 halftime lead over Coffee County on Friday night.  The Raiders were able to notch 3 second half touchdowns but it was not enough as the Raiders fell to the Blaze by a final score of 42 to 20.  Defensively, the Blaze defense held three of Coffee County’s first five possessions to 3 plays and a punt, and the Red Raiders didn’t cross midfield until the second half.  Dowdy finished the night with 200 all-purpose yards.  Boone Riddle...
