Red Raider Football Season Ends at Science Hill
Four touchdowns from Alontae Taylor were not enough to lift Coffee County to an upset of Science Hill as the Red Raiders season ended with a 52 to 26 loss in the first round of the TSSAA playoffs on Friday night. The Hilltoppers scored on their first 2 possessions on a pair of 3 play drives to take an early 14 to 0 lead. The Burch & Stanley attorneys at law “Student of the Week” for 6 November 2015 is Kaylex Medley. Kaylex is in fifth grade at College Street Elementary School in Manchester. She is the daughter of proud parents Tarnie and Steven. She was selected as our student this week because of the many positive attributes she possesses. Kaylex is not afraid of anything when it come to school work and actually takes the initiative whenever she can. She does the right thing and is very responsible. Kaylex is often the first choice (by her fellow students) to work with because she is so helpful to them. Her teachers say she is a natural at math and is an asset to have in the classroom. Kaylex doesn’t claim to have a favorite subject because she enjoys learning everything. She is an athlete, participating in tumbling and gymnastics. She says she plans on becoming a Veterinarian because she loves working with and helping animals. She was presented with a plaque (courtesy of K&S Trophies of Tullahoma) and a set of tickets to an up-coming Nashville Predators game. A 40 point 1st half was more than enough to improve the Coffee County Middle School Lady Raiders to 2 and 0 on the year as they dropped North Franklin 59 to 30 on Thursday night. A 19 point 4th quarter by the Cougars of Middle Tennessee Christian ended the Westwood Rockets 5 game winning streak on Thursday night at the Joel Vinson Gym. Trailing by 2 points entering the 4th quarter, Middle Tennessee Christian turned up the defensive pressure as they claimed a 51 to 49 win over the Rockets. After spotting West Tullahoma a 2 point lead, the 6th grade Lady Raider basketball team of Coffee County Middle School reeled off the next 9 points to jump start a 25 to 10 win over the Lady Bobcats on Wednesday afternoon at home.
