CHS Baseball Drops Scrimmage on Saturday
The spring weather has hampered all the CHS spring sports teams and that was evident for the CHS Red Raider baseball team on Saturday as they dropped a scrimmage to defending state qualifier Central Magnet on Saturday in Murfreesboro. Head coach David Martin was impressed with the performance of his pitching staff but remarked that being limited to 3 practice days outside contributed to his team’s defensive miscues. The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame announced today that The University of the South 1899 football team will be honored as the Historical Achievement Award recipient at its 50th Anniversary Banquet on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at the Omni Nashville Hotel. The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee made its place in the history of College Football in 1899. The Westwood Rocket soccer team got a pair of second half goals from Felix Salinas to score a come from behind 2 to 1 win over Lincoln County on Thursday in Fayetteville. The host Falcons scored in the 5th minute to take a 1 to 0 lead into the intermission. The Rockets tied it almost immediately after the half with Salinas’ first goal off a cross from Elliot Sain in the 31st minute. CHS Baseball to Host Alumni Game
The Coffee County Central High School baseball team is hosting the Inaugural William Jacob Myers Alumni Game on Saturday, March 12th at Powers Field. Former players are asked to sign up for the event prior to March 5th for a commemorative shirt to be worn during the game. The “Odd-Year Alumni” will wear black while the “Even-Year Alumni” will wear red. Check-in time will be from noon to 1:00 PM. Warm-ups begin at 1 PM and the 1st pitch is scheduled for 2 PM.
