Raider, Wildcats fans team up to raise money for Waverly flood victims
While the Coffee County Red Raiders and the Tullahoma Wildcats were competing on the field Friday night in Manchester, there was another competition happening in the stands. Fans from both sides were asked to make donations that would be sent to help flood victims in Humphreys County. Coffee County fans were able to win that side battle – collecting $1,910 while Tullahoma fans contributed $1,410 for a total of $3,320. FOOTBALL: Wildcats roll over Raiders in annual Coffee Pot rivalry
Coffee County never got its offense on the right track Friday night. Eventually, the Raider defense wore out, Tullahoma hit big plays and the Wildcats cruised to a 38-7 win in the 96th annual Coffee Pot Rivalry at Carden-Jarrell Field. Dominant performances by seniors Kiya Ferrell and Lauren Brandt helped the lead the Coffee County Lady Raider volleyball team past rival Lincoln County 3-1 Thursday night in Manchester – a match you heard live on Thunder Radio. COFFEE POT RIVALRY: A look back over the years
Coffee Pot History Manchester and Tullahoma have gotten together on the football field 95 times since 1924. Minus a two year break during WWII, it has been an annual tradition every fall in Coffee County. After the rivalry originally began with the winning team tearing down the other team’s goalposts, the tradition of the Coffee Pot trophy was born.
