Matt Chapman’s three-homer game wasn’t enough for the Nashville Sounds in a 6-5 loss to the New Orleans Zephyrs Saturday night at Zephyr Field. Chapman hit a home run in each of his first three at bats to become the seventh player in Sounds (83-58) history to hit three in a single game. A fumble recovery by Will Partin in the final minute helped preserve a 21 to 14 win for Westwood on Thursday night at Community. The win preserved an outstanding defensive performance by the Rockets. A penalty kick by Lincoln County early in the second half dropped the Westwood Lady Rockets on Thursday night by a final of 1 to 0. Westwood keeper Alana Coker had 11 first half stops but the Lady Falcons were awarded a penalty kick in the 33rd minute after Westwood committed a foul inside the 18 yard box. With its first match now less than one year away, Motlow State Community College has announced that Andy Lyon of Tullahoma will be the school’s first head coach of the new women’s soccer program.
