TSSAA Votes to Renew Golf Championship Contract with Willowbrook
After tabling a vote on whether to return the TSSAA State Golf Championships to Willowbrook on November 17th; the TSSAA Board of Control voted to renew Willowbrook’s contract to host the state golf tournament through 2020. The board was deadlocked on a decision in that November meeting and instructed the state office to poll golf coaches statewide for feedback as to whether to move the state tournament back to Old Fort Golf Course in Murfreesboro. A pair of gold medals was the reward on Saturday for members of the CHS wrestling team after competing in the Goodpasture Invitational tournament. The individual tournament featured wrestlers from 21 different schools in the double elimination format tournament. While not a team event, Coffee County’s strong performance was good enough to rank 6th out of the 21 teams in team points. It was not pretty, but the Coffee County Central High School basketball teams kept the hot streak rolling on Thursday night with a pair of wins at home against Fayetteville. Both teams collected their 5th wins in a row as they earned season sweeps over the Tigers and Lady Tigers. The Coffee County Middle School basketball teams celebrated 8th grade night in style on Thursday night with a pair of victories. Making the evening even better was a pair of victories over conference and cross-county rivals East Tullahoma. The Predators defeated the Bruins 2-1 on Thursday at Bridgestone Arena.
