It was a night of comebacks on homecoming on Friday night as Coffee County traveled to Lincoln County for an important district basketball doubleheader.  Both games saw a slew of fouls and turnovers in two tight games as the teams enter the home stretch of the regular season fighting for tournament seeding.  At the final horns, Coffee County left Fayetteville with a split on the night as the Lady Raiders held off Lincoln County to win 51 to 43 while the Red Raiders had a huge 2nd half comeback before falling 62 to 57. Westwood Girls and College Street Boys Capture Elementary Basketball Titles

The Coffee County Youth Basketball League crowned a pair of champions on Saturday as the 16 team league held their championship and consolation games.  In a pair of games recorded by Thunder Radio, the Lady Eagles of Westwood and the Cougars of College Street captured the titles in the girls and boys divisions respectively.  In the consolation games, the Lady Tigers of Hillsboro defeated North Coffee 31 to 23 and the Hillsboro Tigers dropped the Hickerson Hawks 37 to 22. Freshman Basketball Teams Split with Warren County

The Coffee County Central High School freshman basketball teams welcomed Warren County to their home court at the Coffee County Raider Academy on Thursday night.  The Raiders and Lady Raiders fought to a spilt with their Hwy 55 rivals in the doubleheader.  The Lady Raiders won 47 to 24 while the Red Raiders fell 65 to 41. Elementary Basketball League Championship is Saturday

Four teams are still in contention for Coffee County Youth Basketball League season titles.  The league’s final weekend is coming up on Saturday at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym as girls’ and boys’ champions will be crowned on Saturday.  The girls’ and boys’ consolation game will take place first and there will be a cheerleading exhibition by each school’s cheerleading squads. 2nd Annual Mayor’s Cup Scheduled for February 2nd

Can you think of a better way to have fun and raise money for a worthy cause than a series of basketball games?  The 2nd annual Mayor’s Cup is scheduled Thursday, February 2nd at 6:30 PM at Westwood Middle School.  Teams from the Manchester City School System, the Manchester Police Department and the Manchester Fire Department will compete in the round robin basketball triple header to crown a champion. CHS Wrestlers Close Out Duals Schedule

The Coffee County Central High wrestling team finished up the duals portion of their schedule on Tuesday night in Murfreesboro.  The Raider grapplers took on Blackman and Siegel in the tri-dual match.  Coffee County ended up finishing in 3rd place on the evening as they dropped both team decisions. The Motlow State Bucks cracked the National Junior College Athletic Association Top 25 poll this week and celebrated with an 85-66 win over non-conference opponent Gadsden State Tuesday night, thanks in part to the first triple-double recorded by a Motlow player this season and the setting of a school record that has stood for 43 years.
