The CHS Red Raider baseball team welcomed Lincoln County to Powers Field on Tuesday for a district match up with the Falcons.  In a game you heard here on Thunder Radio, the Red Raiders struggled to get their offense going until the 6th inning.  Trailing 2 to 0, Coffee County rallied to win 3 to 2. The Red Raiders won their match 5 to 1 while the Lady Raiders fell 6 to 1 to the Lady Pioneers. The Westwood softball team hosted Huntland on Monday afternoon for their home opener.  The Lady Rockets used 11 walks and an inside the park home run from Alli Roberts to claim a 10 to 0 win in 5 innings. Westwood loaded the bases in the first inning but a pop-up ended the potential rally.  After that, the Lady Rockets scored in every inning to get the mercy rule win.  Roberts laced a 2 strike pitch down the left field line past the diving left fielder and raced around the bases for a 3 run, inside the park home run. ...

The Westwood baseball team traveled to Lynchburg on Monday night for a conference matchup with Moore County.  The game, originally scheduled for a home game, had to be moved due to damage to the Rockets home field at Fred Deadman Park.  After surrendering 2 runs in the first inning, Wyatt Nugent shut down Moore County and Westwood battled back to win 4 to 2.
