The Nashville Sounds battled the Oklahoma City Dodgers and the weather in a rain-shortened 3-1 win in front of 8,871 fans Tuesday night at First Tennessee Park. The two teams got six full innings in the books before play was halted and eventually called due to rain and unplayable field conditions. After a two-hour, three-minute rain delay to start the game, Sounds’ (3-3) starter Michael Brady took on Trevor Oaks for the Dodgers (2-4). Rarely has a matchup between Coffee County and Lincoln County on the softball diamond been boring and Monday night held true to form.  The Lady Raiders needed to get 2 outs in the top of the 7th inning with the tying run at the plate to claim a hard fought 5 to 3 win.  The win gives Coffee County a regular season sweep over Lincoln County and keeps them tied atop the district standings with a record of 5 and 1 at the midway point. For the first time in 4 years, the Coffee County Middle School and Westwood baseball teams met on the diamond at CCMS on Monday.   The two teams entered the 5th inning in a 1 run game before Coffee County notched a single run in the 5th.  The Red Raiders managed to push 6 runs across in the 6th inning to take an 8 to 0 non-conference win. The Westwood softball team welcomed Cannon County to Lady Rocket Field on Monday hoping to avenge one of their 2 losses on the year.  Cannon County proved to have the pitching to capture the season sweep as they got a 12 to 2 win over Westwood. The Coffee County and Westwood Middle School golf teams welcomed Harris and Liberty to Willowbrook on Monday for a pair of matches.  The Raiders squared off against Harris and Westwood tangled with Liberty in the 2 person scramble format. The Westwood tennis teams traveled to Shelbyville on Monday for a match with the Shelbyville area middle schoolers.   Facing a more experienced Shelbyville squad, the Rockets and Lady Rockets fell by identical 6 to 1 scores. The Nashville Sounds dropped the season-opening series to the Round Rock Express after falling 5-4 Monday night in the Lone Star state. In a back-and-forth game it was the Express who had the last laugh thanks to a bases loaded walk from Simon Castro to Preston Beck in the home half of the seventh inning.
