Written and recorded by Darryn Strickland Saturday September 30, the Raiders took on the Warren County Pioneers; PeeWee division did not play. The Division 1 Raiders started off with a loss of 0-26. Though, they didn’t win, their offense had the ball the majority of the game. #15 Jacoba Fells led the offense with 52 yards rushing. #00 Gavin Smith also assisted with some carries. CCMS Volleyball Finishes 3rd in Conference Tournament

The Coffee County Middle School volleyball team advanced to the semifinals of the CTC conference tournament on Friday before being eliminated.  After getting a win over South in the quarter finals, the Lady Raiders fell to White County in a hard fought semifinal matchup.  Coffee County will finish the season with a record of 7 and 5 and a 3rd place finish in the CTC regular season standings and the CTC tournament. Traveling to Huntland on Friday afternoon, the Westwood soccer team squared off with the top-seeded Lady Hornets in the CTSC tournament semifinals.  Entering the game on a 3 game winning streak, the red hot Lady Rockets were looking to avenge a 5 nil loss in August to Huntland.  Instead, Westwood saw their season come to a close with another 5 nil loss. The Titans had a problem in Houston. Actually, they had several. Offensively, the team got off to another slow start, and ended up turning the ball over five times in the game. On defense, the Titans couldn’t get stops, as the secondary had all kinds of trouble in coverage. To make matters worse, Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota suffered a hamstring injury, and didn’t finish the game. Instead, it was a three-run homer by pinch-hitter Adonis Garcia and Kurt Suzuki’s two-run home run that helped propel the Braves to an 8-5 victory over the Marlins in the season finale at Marlins Park. Traveling to Fayetteville on Thursday night, the Lady Raider soccer team took on Lincoln County.  Facing the Lady Falcons for the 2nd time in a week, Coffee County was looking for a season split in the final regular season game of the year.  Unlike Monday’s loss, the Lady Raiders got off to a strong start in a 3 to 0 win. Temple Baptist Volleyball Wins Tuesday Doubleheader

The Temple Baptist Christian School  varsity volleyball team visited Tunnel Hill, Georgia on Tuesday for a tri-match.  The Lady Eagles took on the home standing Lady Bulldogs of Dogwood Christian and Fairview Christian Academy from Athens, Tennessee.  Temple came home with a pair of wins on the night. Most Prominent Black NHL Player Won’t Kneel For U.S. Anthem. And He’s Canadian.

On Tuesday night, the most prominent black player in the NHL stated bluntly that he would “Never” take a knee for the U.S. National Anthem. P.K. Subban, who is Canadian and plays for the Nashville Predators, was appearing at a fundraiser in Nashville, and said he would never take a knee for the anthem because he has too much respect for the American flag.
