CHS Runners Face Tough Field at Middle Tennessee Cross Country Championships
The Coffee County CHS cross country teams traveled to Dickson on Saturday for their final tune-up prior to the Region 4-AAA championships. Facing the largest and most talented field of runners that they have faced all year, neither Red Raider team could break the top 50 in the individual standings in the Middle Tennessee Cross Country Championships. Westwood’s Bodey Todd Qualifies for State Cross Country Race
Competing against a field of more than 90 middle school runners, Bodey Todd of Westwood took part in the Chattanooga State Qualifier on Saturday. Running as an independent, Todd finished in 10th place overall with a time of 12:10.4 on the 2 mile Moccasin Bend course. That finish was good enough to qualify Todd for Saturday’s Tennessee State Middle School Cross Country Championships. Controversy Plays a Hand in Predators’ OT Loss to Hawks
Brandon Saad scored in overtime as the Nashville Predators fell 2-1 to the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center on Saturday night. The result ends Nashville’s two-game win streak and leaves them with one point in three road games this season. Despite a furious rally in the final 10 minutes, the Lady Raider soccer team fell to Lincoln County on Thursday night in the District 8AAA soccer title game. Facing a deficit of 4 to 1 in the 70th minute, Coffee County scratched out 2 goals in the next 3 minutes before falling to the 2 time defending district champion and 2016 state tournament quarterfinalist 5 to 3. All former Westwood Junior High and Westwood Middle School basketball players and cheerleaders are invited out for the 1st Annual Alumni Game. CHS Football to Host Pink-Out on Friday
The Coffee County Red Raiders will welcome Riverdale to Carden-Jarrell Field on Friday and the focus will be on more than just football. The Red Raiders are hosting Pink Out Night on Friday with the goal of raising money and awareness for Breast Cancer. The event is sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance of Tennessee, and all money goes to the Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition. Three members of the Westwood football team and 2 members of the Coffee County Middle School football team were recently selected to the all-conference teams for their respective conferences. Coffee Middle competes in the Central Tennessee Conference who announced their all-conference team at Saturday’s conference championship.
