Westwood Basketball Splits Season Opening Doubleheader

The Westwood Rockets opened the 2017 basketball season on Tuesday night at the Joel Vinson Gym.  The Rockets and Lady Rockets welcomed Fayetteville to town for a conference doubleheader.  The Lady Rockets opened the season with a 37 to 25 win while the Rockets fell 32 to 29. CCMS 6th Grade Basketball Splits Doubleheader at North

The Coffee County Middle School 6th grade basketball team traveled to Decherd on Tuesday night for a doubleheader with North Franklin.  The Lady Raiders were pushed to overtime before winning 34 to 30.  The Red Raiders dropped a 40 to 35 decision. Trailing by 2 at the half, the Lady Raiders tied the game in the 3rd quarter and ended the game in regulation tied at 26.  In the overtime period, Coffee County held North to just 4 free throws as they outscored the Lady Gators 8 to 4.  Samantha Kirby led the Lady Raiders in scoring with 9...

Arvidsson and Josi Lift Predators over Avalanche 4-1

Viktor Arvidsson and Roman Josi each scored a goal and added an assist to lead the Nashville Predators to a 4-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night. Colton Sissons and Austin Watson also scored for Nashville, which has won three of their last four. Filip Forsberg and Alexei Emelin each had two assists and Pekka Rinne made 20 saves to earn his third victory of the season. Nathan MacKinnon had the lone goal for Colorado, losers of two straight. Temple Christian Volleyball Closes Out Successful Season in Kentucky

The Temple Baptist Christian School volleyball team wrapped up their season on Saturday with a runner-up finish in a tournament in Louisville, Kentucky.  The Lady Eagles finished the tournament with a record of 5 and 2 with both losses coming to eventual tournament champion Faith Christian out of Elizabethton, Kentucky.  Temple finishes the year with an overall record of 32 and 7. The Coffee County Middle School 6th grade boys’ basketball team was in action on Monday night at West Tullahoma.  In a game that saw 27 points scored in a frantic 4th quarter, the Red Raiders lost a heart breaker 34 to 33. Leading 21 to 19 entering the final 6 minute period, Coffee County saw West go 6 of 7 from the free throw line to grab the come from behind win.  Coffee County shot only 2 free throws in the final stanza but finished the game a disappointing 6 for 11 from the charity stripe. In spite of a strong start on Friday night, the Coffee County Red Raiders dropped their Pink Out Night game with Riverdale.  Coffee County marched down the field to score a touchdown on the first offensive series on a 35 yard touchdown reception by Dearron Rozier.  From that point, Riverdale scored 42 unanswered points as they went on to win 56 to 21. CHS Anglers Fare Well at TN Trail Event in East Tennessee

Three boats from the Coffee County Bass Club made the long trek to Jefferson City on Saturday to compete in the 2nd stop of the season for the Tennessee BASS Nation High School Trail series.  Competing in a field of 72 boats, the Raider anglers represented Coffee County well with a pair of Top 25 finishes.
