Lady Rockets blowout Eagleville to move to 10-0; Rockets drop first conference game

Reece Finch went off – piling up 17 points – and Westwood’s Lady Rockets pushed their record to 10-0 on the season with a 42-17 road conference win over Eagleville Monday night. Finch scored 10 of her 17 in the third quarter to help the Lady Rockets put the game away. Ziya Dillard added 8 points for the Lady Rockets, followed by Audri Patton with 6 and Jules Ferrell with 5. BASKETBALL: CMS Lady Raiders take 3rd in Rockvale tournament

Despite missing three starters and only dressing six players, the Coffee County Middle Lady Raiders reached the semi-finals of the Rockvale tournament Saturday before losing for the first time this season. The Lady Raiders lost to Ocoee Middle 36-31. CMS was led by Ella Arnold with 11 and Hayleigh Harris with 6. CMS went on to beat MTCS 44-35 in the third-place game behind 22 from Ella Arnold and 15 from Kaysen Morgan. Arnold was named to the All-Tournament Team. Coffee Middle struggled to get consistent offense and dropped a 47-11 decision to Rockvale on the road Saturday morning. Coffee County Middle’s Lady Raiders remain perfect. CMS went on the road Thursday and easily dispatched of West Tullahoma 48-17 to improve to 7-0 on the year. Both Central High School basketball teams picked up wins in preseason action Thursday afternoon. The Raider boys picked up a last second scrimmage and left with a 63-32 win over Grundy County. Four different Raiders got into double figures in the win. “Defensively we were solid with both our man and zone,” said Red Raider head coach Andrew Taylor.
