Coffee County Elementary League Closes Out Regular Season

The Coffee County Youth Basketball League ended the regular season on Saturday with the final games on the regular season.  With Westwood having the week off, the other 6 elementary schools competed in 3 girls and 3 boys games at Coffee County Central High School.  The league’s postseason tournament will get underway on Saturday, January 6th.  The postseason tournament finals are scheduled for Saturday, January 20th and all the games will be played at CHS’ Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym. Titans Fall to Cardinals

The Titans offense dried up in the desert here on Sunday, and not even a valiant effort from the defense could bail them out. The result was a 12-7 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Quarterback Marcus Mariota completed 16-of-31 passes for 159 yards, with two interceptions. With the loss, the Titans dropped to 8-5. The Coffee County high school and middle school swim teams competed at LaVergne on Thursday night in a meet featuring teams from Blackman, LaVergne and Middle Tennessee Christian. The Raiders won 2 of the 3 matchups on the night in the combined dual meet scoring.  Coffee County got wins over MTCS and Blackman and lost to LaVergne. The Lady Raider relay teams captured a 1st place finish in the 200M and the 400M freestyle relays. CHS Wrestling Splits Pair of Thursday Matches

The CHS wrestling team traveled to Murfreesboro on Thursday for a duals tri-match at Siegel.  The Red Raiders fell to the host Stars 48 to 30.  Coffee County captured a 43 to 42 tiebreaker win over Franklin County. Against Franklin County, Coffee County needed a pin in the heavyweight match to tie the score and force the tiebreaker criteria.  Ethan Pike pinned his opponent in 97 seconds to tie the match at 42.  In the tiebreaker, Coffee County had scored the first point in 10 of the matches to Franklin County’s 8 to give the Raiders the tiebreaker point....

Westwood Basketball Closes Out Regular Season with Sweep of Huntland

The Westwood basketball teams closed out the regular season at home on Thursday as they welcomed Huntland to the Joel Vinson Gym.  In a pair of games you heard here on Thunder Radio, Westwood got a pair of double digit wins over Huntland.  The Lady Rockets won 33 to 22 and the Rockets captured a 46 to 24 victory. Stepping out of conference on Thursday night, the Coffee County Middle School basketball teams traveled to Woodbury to take on Cannon County.  The Lady Raiders roared to a 33 to 22 win.  The Red Raiders were unable to complete the sweep with a 42 to 31 loss. Raven Rogers Signs Softball Scholarship with Martin Methodist

Coffee County Central High School senior outfielder/pitcher Raven Rogers has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her softball career at Martin Methodist College.  In a ceremony at CHS, Rogers was surrounded by family and coaches from her career as she inked the scholarship with the Pulaski college.
