Hitting the road for a rare Saturday night non-district doubleheader, the Coffee County Central High School basketball teams visited Coalmont to take on Grundy County. The Lady Raiders used a strong 2nd quarter to claim a 67 to 25 win. The Red Raiders recovered from a slow start and held off a late rally to defeat the Yellow Jackets 59 to 54. The Coffee County Elementary Basketball League crowned new champions on Saturday as they hosted the finals and consolation games at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym. In a pair of exciting finals, New Union claimed the girls’ title while College Street won the boys’ title. In the girls’ consolation, Hillsboro stopped East Coffee. The CHS Red Raider swim team broke team and individual records on Friday as they had their best regional performance in school history. With 6 swimmers for Coffee County competing in the region meet, Coffee County got incredible performances from all the swimmers. When the day was over, new school records were set for male and female swimmers by Jack Beachboard and Kaylee Williams respectively. The Coffee County middle school swimmers competed on Saturday in the MTHSSA Region Championships on Saturday. Kennedy Norman-Young, Taylor Wall, Aly Hutchings, Emily Williams and William Tobitt represented Coffee County swimming posting several personal bests and qualifying 3 swimmers for the finals. In spite of the small numbers, the boys and girls team each placed 26th in he team standings out of 70 teams. Hitting the road to Tunnel Hill, Georgia, the Temple Baptist Christian School visited Dogwood Christian Academy on Friday. The junior varsity claimed their 2nd win of the year 44 to 33.
