Monday was a tough night at The Patch – as Coffee County Central dropped a pair of tightly-contested ballgames to visiting powerhouse Blackman. Lady Raiders 41, Blackman 50 Coffee County trailed throughout but took the defending state champions to the wire. CHS cut the Blackman lead to 4 at two different points in the fourth quarter but could never complete the comeback. Westwood’s Lady Rockets didn’t miss a beat after the Thanksgiving break. The Lady Rockets went to Liberty and beat the stuffing out of Liberty, 49-7. Reece Finch piled up 15 points to lead the way for the Lady Rockts, followed closely by Jules Ferrell with 14. Audri Patton added 9 and Ziya Dillard 7. The Coffee Middle School Lady Raiders bounced back from an extended holiday break with a 47-15 beating of visiting Cannon County Monday night. Eighth grader Natalie Barnes poured in 20 points for CMS for the Lady Raiders. Jaydee Nogodula added 9 and Ella Arnold 8. Mark your calendars with some schedule changes for the Coffee County Central basketball teams. The Lady Raiders and Red Raiders will host a pair of tough non-conference games this week, as scheduled. Blackman will come to town on Monday and Walker Valley on Tuesday. You can hear both of those games on Thunder Radio WMSR. However, Friday’s game against Tullahoma that was scheduled to be at home has been postponed. The Tullahoma Football team reached the state championship game, which will be played Saturday. The CHS Red Raider basketball team suffered its first loss of the season Saturday afternoon in Woodbury, falling 63-47 to Cookeville to close out the Cannon County Thanksgiving Classic. The Raiders trailed 28-26 at the break, but turnovers and second chance buckets for Cookeville cost the Raiders in the end. Lady Raider point guard Jalie Ruehling set to return soon; cleared from ACL injury
Jalie Ruehling Coffee County High School’s Lady Raider basketball team could be getting a boost to its starting lineup soon. Junior point guard Jalie Ruehling, who started the past two years for CHS, got medical clearance Tuesday afternoon to return to the floor after tearing her ACL during a summer camp game in June. She underwent surgery in July for the injury. Fans shouldn’t expect to see Ruehling inserted immediately into the starting lineup when the Lady Raiders host state powerhouse Blackman on Monday, but she could start seeing floor time in the next couple of weeks. Coffee County Central boys basketball team will put its 3-0 record on the line this weekend in a pair of matinee basketball games in Woodbury. The Raiders are once again participating in the Cannon County Thanksgiving Classic.
