Coffee County Basketball Teams Open District Tournament on Saturday on Thunder Radio
The District 8AAA basketball district tournament schedule was announced on Monday. Action began on Tuesday night with the girls’ “play-in” game at Fayetteville. The boys’ “play-in” game is set for Wednesday night as Franklin County plays host to Shelbyville. Quarterfinal action will take place on Friday with the semifinals scheduled for Saturday at Columbia Central High School. The girls’ championship and consolation games will be held on Monday night at Columbia with the boys to follow on Tuesday night. High School Spring Sports Open Preseason Practice
Monday marked the opening of practice for high school spring sports teams in Tennessee. The 5 spring sports squads at Coffee County Central High School battled the cold and wet conditions to get the 2018 season underway. As has been the case for 25 years, the Lady Raider softball team was the first squad to get in a practice as they opened with Midnight Madness at Terry Floyd Field. Bucks Celebrate Homecoming with Rout of Walters State
After dropping two consecutive conference games, the No. 13 Motlow Bucks took out their frustration on visiting Walters State Saturday afternoon, handing the Senators an 86-48 thumping in front of a large, loud homecoming crowd at Copperweld Arena. The Bucks (16-4, 10-2) were upset at home Friday night 84-73 by Roane State. Motlow will travel to Dyersburg State on Wednesday, then to Memphis Saturday where they will face Southwest Tennessee (17-3, 10-2). Lady Bucks Basketball Breaks Conference Win Draught
After multiple close games and heartbreaking finishes, the Motlow Lady Bucks finally snared a victory in Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) play when they beat Roane State 68-64 Friday night at Copperweld Arena on Motlow’s Moore County campus. The Lady Bucks (4-16, 1-11) followed that up with an 84-50 loss to Walters State on Saturday. The Lady Senators entered the game ranked No. 20 in the nation by the NJCAA. Coffee County Splits Regular Season Finale at Franklin County
Closing out the regular season, and needing a win to punch their ticket to the Region 4AAA Tournament, the Red Raiders traveled to Winchester to take on Franklin County. Needing 1 win to sew up the first regular season district title since 1996, the Coffee County Lady Raiders stunned Shelbyville 40 to 38 on Friday night at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym. CHS Swimmers Have Record Breaking Performances at State Meet
Closing out the most successful season in program history, 3 CHS Red Raider swimmers competed on Friday and Saturday at the Tennessee Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (TISCA) state meet in Knoxville. Jack Beachboard, Kaylee Williams and Anna O’Connor represented the Red & Black in the meet held at the University of Tennessee.
