CHS Softball Drops Non-District Game at Warren County

Coffee County Lady Raider softball team traveled to McMinnville on Tuesday to take on Warren County.  Coming off a district win on Monday, the Lady Raiders took on the Lady Pioneers in their first non-district game of the year.  Despite outhitting Warren County 6 to 4, the Lady Raiders fell by a final score of 3 to 1. Trying to shake off a disappointing loss last week, the Coffee Middle School softball team traveled to Harris on Tuesday.  Taking on the Eaglettes in a conference game, the Lady Raiders were held to 4 hits on the cold night as they surrendered 2 unearned runs.  Those runs were enough to drop Coffee Middle by a final score of 3 to 2. Rinne Makes 32 Saves as Predators Beat Jets 3-1

Pekka Rinne made 32 saves and the surging Nashville Predators scored two short-handed goals in beating the Winnipeg Jets 3-1 on Tuesday night to tie for the top spot in the NHL standings. Kevin Fiala, Austin Watson and Viktor Arvidsson had the goals for Nashville, which has won 11 of 12. The Predators reached 100 points in 69 games, the fastest mark in franchise history. Opening the Brandon McWhorter era at home on Monday, the Coffee County Lady Raider softball team welcomed Franklin County to Terry Floyd Field.  In a game you heard right here on Thunder Radio, the Lady Raiders opened up against their old district rivals from Winchester.  In a game featuring cold temperatures and hot emotions, the Lady Raiders battled to a 4 to 3 win. Kicking off the 2018 season at Powers Field, the Coffee County CHS baseball team hosted Columbia on Monday night.  Battling brutal wind chill temperatures, and an always strong Lions program, the Red Raiders hoped to get the 2018 season off on the right foot.  Coffee County rode the arm and bat of senior Nathanial Tate to a 7 to 2 district win. The Coffee County tennis teams opened the season at home on Monday welcoming new district rival Giles County to the Raider Academy courts.  A pair of young and talented Raider squads got off to a blazing hot start on a cold day with a pair of wins.  The Red Raiders and Lady Raiders each got 7 to 0 sweeps. Westwood Softball Drills Cascade

Opening their home season on Monday night, the Westwood Middle School softball team hosted Cascade.  Attempting to build on a season opening romp at Riverside from last week, Westwood hosted the perennial conference power Lady Champions.  The Lady Rockets used an 8 run 1st inning to power to the 12 to 2 win in 6 innings.
