Fighting off rainy weather, the Lady Raiders closed out play in the Warrior Classic in Murfreesboro on Saturday with 3 games. The Coffee County bats struggled in the 3 games as they finished the day 1 and 2. That performance gave the Lady Raiders a record of 3 and 4 for the tournament. CHS Soccer Splits Games on Saturday in Cleveland

Playing a pair of games on Saturday, the CHS soccer team finished up play in the Cleveland Classic. The Red Raiders opened the day with a 2 to 0 win over Walker Valley. The Red Raiders dropped the nightcap 3 to 0 to Howard. Despite Walker Valley possessing the ball for most of the first half, Coffee County converted on their first shot of the day as Briggs Haithcock directed a header past the Walker Valley keeper off an assist from David Morales. CCMS Baseball Ties Blackman on Saturday

The Coffee County Middle School baseball team finished 4th in the Blaze Challenge Tournament in Murfreesboro on Saturday.  The Red Raiders ended the tournament with a win and a tie after a 1 to 1 stalemate with Blackman on Saturday morning.  The semifinal and final rounds were cancelled on Saturday night and Sunday due to wet fields. High-Scoring, Spirited Affair Ends in Shootout Loss

A high-scoring and spirited affair between the Nashville Predators and Winnipeg Jets had to be decided in a shootout, with Winnipeg picking up the extra point in a 5-4 victory at Bell MTS Place. Nashville held leads of 2-0, 3-1 and 4-3, but after Blake Wheeler’s 20th forced an overtime that saw both teams hit iron, Mark Scheifele scored the lone goal in the shootout to decide the game. The home team scored four unanswered goals as the Nashville Predators fell to the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night at Xcel Energy Center. CHS Softball Clubs 5 Home Runs in Friday Action

Day #2 of the Lady Warrior Classic saw the Coffee County softball team’s bats wake up.  Playing a doubleheader at McKnight Park, the Lady Raiders banged out 28 hits, scored 24 runs and had 5 home runs as they split the doubleheader.  Coffee County got a 14 to 0 win over Ardmore, Alabama before losing a tough 12 to 10 decision to Carl Sandburg High School out of Illinois. Welcoming Liberty to Looney Riddle Field on Friday night, the Westwood baseball team hosted a home conference game looking to bounce back after their first loss of the year on Wednesday.
