In a story we first brought to you in November, plans were put in place to erect an indoor practice facility for football at the Coffee County Middle School.  After months of design, planning, site work and weather delays, construction began on the facility on Wednesday at CCMS. Facing conference leading Moore County, the Lady Rockets of Westwood welcomed the Lady Blue Raiders to Lady Rocket Field on Tuesday.  The Lady Rockets were unable to keep their unbeaten season alive to the talented against the Lynchburg 9.  Westwood fell by a final score of 5 to 0. A leadoff single by Kiya Ferrell of the CCMS softball team turned to be the only hit of the night on Wednesday as the Lady Raiders fell to North Franklin.  After a 10 to 7 loss at home last Thursday, Coffee County lost 7 to 0 on Wednesday night.  The loss gives the Lady Gators a season sweep over Coffee County. The Nashville Sounds shut out the Iowa Cubs for the second consecutive game and grabbed a 6-0 win in front of 5,252 fans at First Tennessee Park Wednesday night. Frankie Montas, Ryan Dull, Chris Bassitt and Lou Trivino combined on a five-hit shutout one night after four Nashville pitchers blanked Iowa in the home opener. Montas was impressive in his second start of the season as he faced the minimum over three frames. The Lady Raider softball team of Coffee County welcomed Shelbyville to Terry Floyd Field on Tuesday night.  Getting their first look at the Eaglettes this season, the Lady Raiders were returning to the diamond after a week off.  After a shaky performance through 6 innings, Coffee County rallied with single runs in the 7th and 8th innings to capture the 10 to 9 win. The Coffee County Middle School baseball team welcomed the Middle Tennessee Monarchs to CCMS on Tuesday.  The Monarchs, from Rutherford County, field a team of students who are home schooled.  The Red Raiders banged out 12 hits to capture a 14 to 4 win in 6 innings. The Coffee County CHS tennis teams visited Lewisburg on Tuesday for a district match with Marshall County.  The Red Raiders snapped a 2 match losing streak with a 4 to 3 win.  The Lady Raiders fell 5 to 2. In the boys’ match, Grey Riddle(8 to 5), Jonah Rollman(8-0) and Landon Booth(8-0) all got wins in singles matches.  Riddle teamed up with Reid Lawrence to capture a 8 to 5 win in doubles play.
