Westwood Baseball Drops 2 to 1 Decision to Cascade

The Westwood Middle School baseball team closed out the regular season on Tuesday with a trip to Wartrace.  Tangling with conference rival Cascade, the Rockets were looking to avenge a lopsided loss to the Champions in March.  The Rockets held Cascade to 2 runs on the game, but could only muster 3 hits in a 2 to 1 loss. CCMS Softball Falls to Lincoln County on Tuesday

The Coffee County Middle School softball team welcomed Lincoln County to CCMS on Tuesday for 8th Grade Night.   The visiting Lady Falcons jumped on Coffee County in the 1st inning as they scored twice and spoiled the Lady Raider celebration with a 5 to 3 defeat of Coffee Middle. Westwood Softball Clobbers Cascade on Monday

The Westwood Middle School softball team used 10 walks and 7 hits to rout Cascade on Monday night 17 to 3 in Wartrace.  The win improved the Lady Rockets to 9 and 1 on the year and gave Westwood a season sweep over the Lady Champions of Wartrace. Tied at 1 after 1 inning, Westwood scored 6 runs in the 2nd inning to effectively end the drama.  Leading 9 to 3 entering the 4th inning, Westwood tallied 8 more runs in the top of the 4th to salt away the mercy-rule shortened win. CCMS Golf Topples North Franklin on Monday

The Coffee County Middle School golf teams hosted North Franklin on Monday at Willowbrook.  The Raiders captured flags in all 4 matches as they cruised to a 9 to 3 win.  Westwood was scheduled to take on South Franklin but that match was rescheduled due to a schedule conflict at South. CHS Track Athletes Battle for State Berths in Multi-Sport Sectional

Six athletes from the Coffee County CHS track team competed on Monday in the Sectional Pentathlon/Decathlon Meet at Stewarts Creek.  Each was trying to sew up a spot in the 2018 TSSAA State Track Meet in May.  Sarah Pearson, Chloe Haggard and Jaden Campbell competed for the Lady Raiders in the pentathlon while Raven Weber, Trace Bryant and Dillon Helms took part in the decathlon. CCMS Tennis Sweeps St. Andrew’s

The Coffee County Middle School tennis teams welcomed St. Andrew’s-Sewanee to the Raider Academy Courts on Monday. The Lady Raiders won all 3 of the contested singles matches to capture a 7 to 0 win. The Red Raiders eked out a 4 to 3 win as they won all 4 of the matches that they were able to contest. CCMS Soccer Drops Tough Decision to Tullahoma

Despite a valiant effort, the Coffee County Middle School soccer team fell to Tullahoma on Monday night 3 to 1.  Reuben Alvarez had the lone goal for the Raiders late in the 2nd half to prevent the shutout. The Raiders played toe to toe with the favored Wildcats in the first half as they trailed 1 nil at the intermission.  The more experienced Tullahoma 11 added a pair of goals to stretch that lead to 3 nil in the 2nd half.  Alvarez prevented the clean sheet for the Wildcats with his goal in the closing minutes.
