Lady Raider Basketball to Hold Tryouts and Team Camp
The Coffee County CHS Lady Raider basketball team will be hosting tryouts on Friday and Saturday for those female student athletes wanting to play basketball in the coming school year. Tryouts on Friday will be from 11 AM to 1 PM and tryouts on Saturday will be from 9 AM to 11 AM. Both tryouts will be held at CHS’ Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym. Those ladies wishing to tryout must have signed and completed Physical and Parental Consent forms with them when they arrive. Nashville SC to Host U.S. Open Cup Game Tonight
The Nashville Soccer Club will host the Mississippi Brilla of the Premier Development League on Wednesday at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex. The 7:30 PM game is a 3rd round matchup in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Tournament. The Nashville Soccer Club, of the United Soccer League, advanced to the 3rd round with a 2 nil win last Wednesday over Inter Nashville of the National Premier Soccer League. Sounds Upend Sky Sox for Second Straight Victory
The Nashville Sounds edged the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 4-2 Tuesday night after an hour and ten minute rain delay to start the game. Chris Bassitt had arguably his strongest outing of the season on the mound for the Sounds. Former Coffee County CHS golfer Megan Kriz tees off today in the NAIA National Championship tournament. Kriz, a senior at Lindsey Wilson College, leads her Blue Raider golfers into the 2018 NAIA National Championship Tournament on Tuesday afternoon in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The tournament is being held at PGA National’s par-72, 5,854-yard Champion Course. Former Coffee County Baseball Coach Headed to State Tournament
The Grundy County baseball team is headed to the TSSAA State Baseball Tournament this week. The Yellow Jackets are coached by former Coffee County baseball coach Chase Jones. Jones, who took over the Grundy County program in 2013, defeated Signal Mountain 4 to 2 on Friday in the Class AA Sectional to advance to the state tournament. This will be the 4th appearance for Grundy County in the state tournament. Laureano Leads Sounds to Win in Triple-A Debut
Ramon Laureano put together a perfect night at the plate to lead the Nashville Sounds to a 5-4 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox in front of 6,321 fans at First Tennessee Park Monday night. The right fielder began the season on the disabled list after suffering an injury in spring training. The Cinderella run for the Lady Raider softball team came to an end on Friday night in the sectional round of the TSSAA playoffs. Coffee County was denied a 2nd straight state tournament appearance at the hands of Walker Valley before an overflow crowd at Terry Floyd Field. Four CCMS Track Athletes Medal at State Meet on Saturday
Five members of the Coffee County Middle School track team competed on Saturday in the TMSAA state meet in Clarksville. 4 of the 5 brought home medals in the third year of the event. Ethan Welch led the Raider harriers as he medaled in the high jump and the discus. Welch cleared a personal record of 5’6” in the high jump in finish in a tie for 1st place.
