Sarah West Named to NFCA South Region Team

Rising Coffee County Central High School junior softball player Sarah West was named to the 1st team National Fastpitch Coaches Association South Region team on Monday.  West, who led the Lady Raiders this past season in several offensive categories, was one of only 2 Tennessee players named to the 8 state All-Region squad.   West joins Sophie Dunavant of Jackson Christian High School as a 1st team selection. The Iowa Cubs spoiled the evening for 11,691 fans at First Tennessee Park by topping the Nashville Sounds, 6-2, Wednesday night. Three costly errors burned the Sounds as the third-largest crowd in ballpark history took in the game. Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota gathered with some of his top targets in Nashville over the weekend for a throwing session. The players – receivers and tight ends – worked together on Saturday and Sunday at an area football field. Back in March, roughly a half-dozen players all joined Mariota in Los Angeles for workouts during a break. CHS Adds Wrestling Assistant Coach

Coffee County Central High School athletic director Rebecca Koger announced the hiring of Michael Sullivan as an assistant wrestling coach for the upcoming school year.  Sullivan comes to Coffee County after coaching and teaching at Cane Ridge High School in Antioch.  Sullivan will also teach math at CHS. “(Sullivan) possesses a strong knowledge of fundamentals and techniques that will be of great value to our student-athletes” said Koger.  Sullivan is originally from Tullahoma where he was a wrestler.   Sullivan, who lives in Estill Springs, completed his 1st year of teaching last year at Cane Ridge where he helped coach...

Coffee County Youth Wrestling Camp to Begin Next Monday

Coffee County Youth Wrestling will be sponsoring the 2018 Red Raider Wrestling Camp coming up on July 9th through the 13th.  The camp will run from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM each day at the Coffee County Raider Academy Gym.  The camp is open to boys and girls in grades K thru 8th grade for the upcoming school year.  Cost for the camp is $45 per wrestler and there is a sibling discount when signing up multiple family members.  Each camper will receive a free camp t-shirt. Tullahoma native Aly Barfield recently signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her softball career as a student-athlete at Motlow State Community College. Barfield, a 2017 graduate of Tullahoma High School and a four-year player for the Lady Cats, spent her freshman year of college as a redshirt at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga.
