Sounds Match Franchise Record With 15th Straight Win

Franklin Barreto homered and Dustin Fowler added three hits as the Nashville Sounds topped the Round Rock Express, 8-4, Tuesday night at First Tennessee Park to extend their winning streak to 15 games. The 15-game streak matches a franchise record set during the 1999 season. Nashville’s winning streak started on July 29 in Salt Lake City with a 9-5 win over the Bees. They swept their last homestand – a seven-game stretch against Fresno and Sacramento – and swept Colorado Springs on the road before returning home. The Coffee County CHS volleyball team traveled to McMinnville on Monday to open the regular season.  They squared off in a doubleheader against Warren County and Covenant Academy.  The Lady Raiders got the season off to a perfect start claiming a pair of wins.  Coffee County swept Covenant by set scores of 25-19 and 25-15.  Coffee County battled to top Warren County 26-24, 19-25 and 25-19. (story by Lucky Knott) The Coffee County boys golf team hosted Tullahoma, Franklin County and Shelbyville in a 4 team 18-hole match on Monday afternoon at Willowbrook. The Red Raiders shot their lowest 18-hole round of the year by scoring a 299. Senior Samuel Prater led the way with an impressive 4-under 68, which was the overall low score of the day. The Coffee County CHS soccer team opened the 2018 season on the road on Monday as they traveled to Unionville for a non-district match with Community.  The Lady Raiders got off to a red hot start as they scored a pair of goals in the opening 3 minutes.  Coffee County went on to claim the 7 to 2 season-opening win. Coffee Middle Volleyball Comes up Short in Season Opener

The Coffee County Middle School volleyball opened their season at home on Monday afternoon as they welcomed Harris to the CCMS gym.  Despite 13 service aces, the Lady Raiders fell in a pair of hard fought sets.  Coffee Middle lost by set scores of 20-25 and 22-25. Opening the 2018 season on their home pitch, the Coffee County Middle School soccer team hosted conference foe Harris on Monday.  The young Lady Raiders had few answers for the Eaglettes as they fell by a final score of 10 to 0. Westwood Volleyball Match at North Franklin Postponed

Westwood volleyball will have to wait to begin their first ever full season after a cancellation on Monday.  The Lady Rockets match with North Franklin had to be rescheduled at the last minute.   That match will now take place on Wednesday, August 22nd. The Lady Rockets will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Fayetteville to take on South Lincoln.  First serve is set for 5 PM.  On Thursday, Westwood will travel out to New Union to tangle with crosstown rival Coffee Middle.
