The Nashville Sounds squandered numerous opportunities on offense as they were edged by the Round Rock Express 3-2 Thursday night at First Tennessee Park. The Sounds went 1-for-19 with runners in scoring position on the night. Daniel Mengden was once again outstanding for the Sounds. The right-hander twirled his fifth quality start in his last six with six shutout innings of four-hit baseball. He walked one and fanned six on the night. Westwood Volleyball Captures Road Win on Wednesday

The Westwood volleyball team hit the road on Wednesday for a match at North Franklin.  The Lady Rockets captured the first victory for the newly revived Westwood program.  The Lady Rockets captured the win in straight sets 27-25 and 25-16.  The JV team dropped their contest in straight sets 18-25 and 20-25. CHS Volleyball Falls to Riverdale

The Coffee County CHS volleyball team traveled to Murfreesboro on Wednesday for a match against region rival Riverdale.  The Lady Raiders had 12 service errors and 15 hitting errors on the night as they were swept by the Lady Warriors.  Coffee County fell in straight sets 15-25, 20-25 and 18-25. The Nashville Sounds’ winning streak came to a halt at 15 games as the Round Rock Express snapped it with a 3-1 win in front of 8,453 fans and 702 dogs at First Tennessee Park Wednesday night. The 2018 Sounds team will share the longest winning streak in franchise history with the 1999 Sounds team that won 15 straight games June 2-20. The Red Raider football team of Coffee County Middle School welcomed Lake Forest Middle out of Cleveland to Manchester on Tuesday night.  The Raider defense did a magnificent job holding the vaunted Bruins offense to 76 yards of total offense.  Unfortunately, 3 Raider turnovers spelled doom for Coffee Middle as they fell 20 to 12. Opening the 2018 season in Fayetteville, the Westwood volleyball team visited South Lincoln on Tuesday.  The Lady Rockets fought hard but came up short in straight sets to the Lady Eagles from Fayetteville.  The varsity lost in straight sets 10-25 and 14-25.  The junior varsity came up short by set scores of 7-25 and 9-25.
