Raider Football Comes up Short Against Franklin County

Opening the season against border rival Franklin County, the Red Raider football team went toe to toe with the talented Rebels before falling 22 to 14.  Trailing 7 to 0 at the half, Coffee County got a pair of touchdowns to take a 14 to 7 lead with 11 minutes remaining in the game.  A pair of late touchdowns and a 2 point conversion gave the Rebels the win. CHS and CCMS Cross Country Teams Open Season with Saturday Night Meet

The Coffee County CHS and Coffee County Middle School cross country teams opened their season on Saturday night in Murfreesboro.  The young Raider harriers competed in 30 heats with over 300 runners at the nighttime event at Siegel. CHS JV Volleyball Team Claims Saturday Tournament Title

A 5 and 0 record on Saturday gave the Coffee County Central High School JV volleyball team the tournament title for the JV tournament held at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym.  The Lady Raiders came out on top in the 7 team tournament with a perfect 5 and 0 record after going 3 and 0 in pool play. CHS JV Soccer Team Grabs a Pair of Wins in Saturday Tournament

The JV Lady Raider soccer team from CHS took part in the SMT invitational in Tullahoma.  The Lady Raiders came up with a pair of wins on the day.  Coffee County got wins over Warren County and Tullahoma. Coffee County defeated Warren Co 4-0 with goals by Maddie Jones, Britny Hernandez, Faith Willoughby and Trava Brown.  The Lady Raiders also defeated Tullahoma 3-1.  Coffee County was led by Britny Hernandez who had 2 goals and Maddie Jones who added the other tally. The Manchester Youth Football League opened their regular season on Saturday in Pulaski.  The Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3 teams were all in action, with all 3 teams taking on Giles County.  The Raiders went 1 and 2 on the day in the tripleheader. Beau Taylor’s clutch base hit in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted the Nashville Sounds to a 5-4 win over the New Orleans Baby Cakes in front of 9,387 fans at First Tennessee Park Sunday night. Taylor’s line drive single to left-center scored Anthony Garcia from third to snap a 4-4 deadlock. Marcus Mariota flashed, Taywan Taylor dashed, and the Titans provided some more positive vibes on Saturday night vs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Of course, like most preseason games, there were some not-so-great moments as well. The Titans lost to the Buccaneers 30-14 in preseason game No.2 at Nissan Stadium.
