Manchester Youth Football League Hosts First Home Games of Season

The Manchester Youth Football League hosted their first home games of the year on Saturday as they welcomed Shelbyville to Carden-Jarrell Field.  Playing a tripleheader in front of the biggest home crowd ever, the Raider teams finished the day with a record of 1 and 2. The Division 1 team opened the afternoon with a 31 to 7 win.  The Division 2 Red Raiders rallied after falling behind early but fell 34 to 20.  The Division 3 Raiders got a kickoff return for a touchdown but fell 23 to 7. Two lightning delays, a brawl, two kickoff returns for touchdowns, injuries to key players, and a game that took over seven hours to play, making it the longest game in NFL history. The Coffee County Middle School soccer team traveled to Winchester on Thursday to tangle with conference rival North Franklin.  The Lady Raiders and Lady Gators battled to a 1 all draw at intermission.  North added 3 goals in the 2nd half to grab a 4 to 1 win over Coffee County. CHS Lady Raider Basketball Team to Host Golf Tournament

The Coffee County Lady Raider basketball team is hosting a 2 day golf tournament on Saturday and Sunday, September 15th and 16th.  The tournament will be held at Old Stone Fort Golf Course and will be a 2 person scramble format.  Cost for each team is $250 and includes a BBQ dinner on Saturday night at Prater’s BBQ. Coffee County Golf Ends Regular Season with Tournament Win at Lawrenceburg

The Coffee County Red Raider boy’s golf team closed out the regular season on Thursday in a 4 team match at Lawrence County.  Taking on the teams of Lawrence County, Marshall County and Giles County, the Raiders pushed their final record to 62 and 5 with a sweep over the trio of felines. The Westwood football team welcomed Community to Dyer-Bouldin Field on Thursday.  In a game you heard here on Thunder Radio, Westwood played inspired football in the 2nd half but could not overcome a 28 to 0 halftime deficit.  The Rockets lost 34 to 19.
