Manchester Youth Football to Host Playoffs on Saturday

The Manchester Youth Football League(MYFL) will play host to the Southern Middle Tennessee Youth Football Association(SMTYFA) semifinals this Saturday at Carden-Jarrell Field.  A pair of semifinal matchups in each of the 3 divisions sets up a 6 game slate for Saturday.  The MYFL Raiders will have a pair of teams in action as the Division 1 and Division 2 Raiders each qualified for the playoffs.  Action begins at 9 AM.  The Division 1 Raiders will be in that first game beginning at 9.  The Division 2 Raiders will play at 1:30 PM. The Lady Raider soccer team of Coffee County Central High opened play on the District 8AAA soccer tournament on Tuesday night in Shelbyville.  In a match you heard here on Thunder Radio, the Lady Raiders squared off against a tough and physical Eaglettes team.  A goal by Maddy Jones in the 15th minute of extra time proved to be the game winner as Coffee County won 2 to 1. Coffee County Volleyball Season Comes to Close in Region Tournament

The Coffee County CHS volleyball saw their season come to a close on Tuesday night in the Region 4AAA tournament semifinals.  The Lady Raiders, who were the runner-up in District 8AAA, squared off against state power Siegel in the semifinals.  The Lady Stars dispatched the Lady Raiders in straight sets 8-25, 13-25 and 11-25. Coffee County Middle School 6th Grade Basketball Teams Open Season

The Coffee County Middle School 6th grade basketball teams opened their seasons on the road on Tuesday night.  The Lady Raiders traveled to Wartrace to take on Cascade while the Red Raiders were in Tullahoma taking on the West Tullahoma Bobcats. The Lady Raiders rolled to a 53 to 5 win over Cascade.  The Red Raiders fell to West Tullahoma by a score of 35 to 28.  Courtland Farrar led the Raiders in scoring with 14 points.  Brady Wright added 5 points. Flames Shut Out Preds in Home Opener

Mike Smith made 43 saves in a 3-0 win for the Calgary Flames against the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday. It was Smith’s first shutout of the season and the 37th of his NHL career. Sean Monahan scored two goals and Johnny Gaudreau had three assists for Calgary.
