Hey Nashville, welcome to the new sound of soccer. At a uniquely Nashville party at Marathon Music Works on Wednesday evening, Nashville Soccer Club was unveiled as the name of Nashville’s new Major League Soccer (MLS) team. The MLS colors, crest and inaugural season hashtag #BandTogether were also launched as a part of the event, hosted by sports personality Sara Walsh. After the announcement, local Nashville bands Judah and the Lion, The Weeks, and Lindsey Ell played live music for the 2,000 fans in attendance. The Motlow State Lady Bucks clinched the No. 2 seed in the upcoming TCCAA/Region VII basketball tournament by beating Southwest Tennessee 92-87 Saturday night at Copperweld Arena in the season’s final home game. Motlow (10-5, 18-10) stands alone in second place behind defending champion Walters State and two games ahead of Roane State. With the conclusion of the District 7AAA basketball tournament on Tuesday night, the opponents for the Coffee County CHS basketball teams have been set.  The Lady Raiders will host Stewarts Creek in a region basketball game on Friday at 7:00. The Red Raiders will host Riverdale in their region game on Saturday also at 7:00. Tickets will be $6 for each night. Seven boats from the Coffee County Youth Bass Club competed on Saturday at Percy Priest Lake in a combination State Trail and Region Tournament.   136 Angler teams from across the state were in attendance in the high school division.  The high school Raider anglers managed a Top 6 finish and 2 finishers in the Top 25 for the event. CHS Baseball Team Wins Saturday Scrimmage

The Coffee County CHS baseball team hit the diamond on Saturday for their first scrimmage action of the spring.  The Red Raiders hosted Grundy County in a 10 inning preseason tilt at Powers Field.  The Red Raiders “looked better than I expected considering how little time we have had on the field” said Raider coach David Martin.   Coffee County claimed an 11 to 9 win in the scrimmage. SIU, which improved to 7-2 on the season, has now won seven-straight games. The Salukis (7-2) had three players recognized on the All-Tournament team, including Tournament MVP Brianna Jones.
