Sounds Clipped by Cubs on Opening Day

After a one-hour, 28-minute rain delay to begin the season, the Nashville Sounds came up short against the Iowa Cubs in a 5-4 Opening Day loss in front of 7,475 fans at First Tennessee Park. Ian Happ’s big day at the plate was enough for Iowa. The Cubs center fielder delivered a go-ahead three-run double in the fifth inning and finished 2-for-5 with three RBI and a stolen base. Coffee County Middle School Soccer Outlasts South Franklin

The Coffee County Middle School soccer team returned to the pitch on Wednesday after a 16 day break.  Welcoming conference foe South Franklin, the Raiders got 4 goals from Javier Rodriguez as they rolled to a 6 to 2 win. Westwood Soccer Blanked by Tullahoma on Wednesday

The Westwood Rockets soccer team welcomed Tullahoma to Dyer-Bouldin Field on Wednesday for a non-conference friendly.  After a tight first half, Tullahoma pulled away in the 2nd half for a 4 to 0 win. The Westwood tennis team returned to the Fred Deadman Park courts on Wednesday as they hosted Lewisburg. The Rockets managed just a singles win in a 6 to 1 loss. The Lady Rockets came up short by a final score of 4 to 3. For the Rockets, Jonathan Nelson got Westwood’s lone win by a 6 to 2 score. Hosting their fiercest rival Tullahoma on Tuesday, the Coffee County Central High School baseball team returned to district play.  In a game you heard here on Thunder Radio, the Red Raiders jumped on the Wildcats early only to see Tullahoma rally to capture the 16 to 3 win.
