Manchester Youth Football League Signups Are Winding Down
Signups for the Manchester Youth Football League continue this Saturday at the Manchester Recreation Center. The signups will be held from 9 AM to 1 PM for the football players AND cheerleaders. The MYFL is looking for boys and girls ages 5 to 12 for the league for the upcoming fall season. The final 2 Saturdays for registration days will be the next 2 Saturdays, June 1st and June 8th. Sounds Drop Opener to Baby Cakes
The New Orleans Baby Cakes scored a pair of late runs to help top the Nashville Sounds, 5-3, in front of 8,319 fans at First Tennessee Park Thursday night. New Orleans broke a 2-2 tie with single tallies in the sixth and seventh innings to help win game one of the four-game series. Delino DeShields started the game with a bang when he drilled a solo homer to leadoff the bottom of the first inning. Westwood Basketball to Take Part in Eagleville Camp on Friday
The Westwood Rocket and Lady Rocket basketball teams wrap up a week of summer workouts on Friday with a team camp at Eagleville. With both teams looking to replace some key contributors from last season, the camp will give the Westwood coaches a chance to experiment with some different lineup combinations. The Rockets will open the day at 10 AM with a game against Cascade. They will follow that up taking on Community at 11 and close out the day taking on Harris at 1 PM. Nashville SC Loses in PK’s to Fall Out of U.S. Open Cup Play
Nashville SC’s run in the 2019 U.S. Open Cup came to a crashing, heartbreaking end in penalties against Charleston Battery on Wednesday night at Hayes Stadium in Murfreesboro that finished 1-1 and 3-0 in penalty kicks. Nashville SC controlled a huge majority of possession, winning the battle 68.4% to 31.6% and outshot the Battery 27-11. Express Outlast Sounds in Marathon
The Round Rock Express got out of town with a 13-12 win over the Nashville Sounds in 13-inning marathon Tuesday night at First Tennessee Park. The game took 4 hours and 36 minutes to complete and finished with a pair of position players on the mound for their respective team. Both teams scored in the 11th, 12th and 13th innings, but Round Rock scored three in the 13th and the Sounds answered with only two to ultimately come up short. Maness, Bullpen Halt Express in Win
Stellar pitching by Nashville’s pitching staff helped keep Round Rock at bay as the Sounds won 4-2 on Tuesday night at First Tennessee Park. Seth Maness earned his third win of the season and while David Carpenter earned his seventh save of the season. The first score of the game came from Round Rock when Alex De Goti hit an RBI single in the top of the third to make it 1-0, Express. Nashville SC Keeper Matt Pickens Named USL Championship Player of the Week
Nashville Soccer Club keeper Matt Pickens was named the USL Championship’s Player of the Week following two clean sheets on the road last week, earning Nashville SC four points and vaulting it to second place in the Eastern Conference standings. The honor is Pickens’ first as a member of Nashville SC as he received 67 percent of the poll conducted by a national panel of independent media representing every USL Championship market. Lady Raider Basketball Camp Opens on Tuesday
The Coffee County Central High School Lady Raider basketball team will host the 2019 Lil Raider Camp on Tuesday, May 28th thru Thursday May 31st. The camp is open to boys and girls ages 5 to 15 and will be held at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym.
