Coffee County CHS Volleyball Team Goes 2 and 1 at Thursday Playday

The Coffee County Lady Raider volleyball team played host to their annual scrimmage playday on Thursday at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym.  Dividing the 12 team field into 3 pools of 4 teams, Coffee County plopped itself in the strongest pool.  The Lady Raiders rose to the challenge posting a 2 and 1 record in their 3 games. The Titans have agreed to terms on a multi-year deal with safety Kevin Byard. Byard, who has 12 interceptions in the past two seasons, was a third-round draft pick by the Titans in the 2016 NFL Draft out of Middle Tennessee State University. He’s considered one of the NFL’s best safeties. Byard was named to the Pro Bowl in 2017, when he racked up eight interceptions. Mako Swim Team Ends Summer Season at Southeast Championship

The Manchester Makos ended their Long Course season this weekend with 10 swimmers participating in the Southeastern Long Course meet in Huntsville, Alabama. A total of 1,178 swimmers from 53 teams had to achieve qualifying times to participate in the meet. Swimmers traveled from Tennessee, Alabama, and the Florida panhandle to participate in the three day competition. The Makos team had a strong showing in the 13 and up age group with 8 swimmers, and 2 swimmers represented the 9-10 year age group. The Coffee County CHS golf team’s preseason scrimmage tournament  in Tullahoma scheduled for Thursday has been cancelled. After graduating 4 seasoned players last year, the 2019 Red Raider golf team will feature new faces. After not having a girls’ team the last 2 seasons, Coffee County will once again have a Lady Raider team. “Both teams are very inexperienced ” said head coach Mike Ray. Park Partners to Host Golf Tournament to Benefit All-Inclusive Playground

The Manchester Recreation Department, in conjunction with the Park Partners, is hosting a Fundraising Golf Scramble on Friday, July 26th.  The 2nd annual Park Partners Playground Golf Scramble will be played at Willowbrook with 4 person teams competing for awards and prizes.  Proceeds from the tournament will go toward the construction of a playground benefiting children with special needs. The inclusive playground is designed to be built at Fred Deadman Park and will benefit all children.
