The Coffee Middle School volleyball team hit the road on Tuesday traveling to McMinnville. The Lady Raiders squared off against an always strong Warren County squad looking to win their 4th match in a row. The Lady Raiders struggled with hitting errors and passing as they dropped the match in straight sets. Coffee County fell by set scores of 25-12 and 25-15. The Westwood soccer team opened their season on Tuesday as they welcomed St. Andrews-Sewanee to Dyer-Bouldin Field. The young Lady Rockets “played hard and learned lots” said head coach Donna Burdine, but it was not enough to capture a win. Westwood fell by a final score of 3 to 0. The Coffee County CHS volleyball team opened their season at home against old rival Tullahoma on Monday night. In a match you heard here on Thunder Radio, a strong performance from the service line lifted the Lady Raiders to the dominant win in straight sets. The Westwood football welcomed Cannon County to Dyer-Bouldin Field on Monday night for a rematch of their August 8th contest in Woodbury. The Coffee Middle School volleyball hosted their first home match of the year on Monday as they welcomed Harris to the CCMS gym. The Lady Raiders were hoping to repeat on a season pening win over the Lady Eagles. They did EXACTLY that as they lost the first set before rallying to win the match in 3 sets. The Coffee Middle School soccer team opened their season on Monday taking on conference rival North Franklin. The Lady Raiders struggled mightily in the 1st half as they fell behind 5 nil at intermission. Coffee County tightened the defense in the 2nd half but could not get on the scoreboard falling 6 to 0. Coffee County CHS Golf Match Postponed Due to Lightning
The Coffee CHS golf hosted a 4 team match on Monday at Willowbrook. Hosting Tullahoma, Cannon County and Van Buren County, the match got underway under hot and humid conditions. As is sometimes the case on summer afternoons, lightning moved into the area midway thru the round forcing a postponement. A date to resume the match has not yet been secured. The Coffee County golf teams will now be off until next Wednesday, August 28th, when they host their annual Golden Classic at Willowbrook.
