The Coffee County CHS volleyball team hit the road for the first time this season as they visited Whitwell.  The Lady Raiders captured their 3rd straight match win with a straight set sweep of the Tigers.  Coffee County won by set scores of 25-15, 25-11 and 25-20.  The Lady Raiders have not dropped a set in their 3 matches this season. Tim Dillard tossed seven strong innings, and Ronald Guzman went 4-for-4 with three extra-base hits on Wednesday night, as the Nashville Sounds cruised to a 7-2 victory over the Oklahoma City Dodgers at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The Sounds improved to 14-5 in August and have won 12 of their last 14 games. The victory gave them a fourth straight winning series. The Sounds never trailed in the game, taking a 3-0 lead in the second inning on a three-run homer by Jett Bandy. A second half red card to defender Forrest Lasso turned Nashville SC’s top-of-the-table clash against New York Red Bulls II on its head, resulting in a 2-1 loss for Nashville at First Tennessee Park on Wednesday night. Lasso was shown yellow cards within five minutes of each other midway through the second half, taking off one of Nashville’s best players in its now-ended six match unbeaten streak. The Coffee County CHS volleyball team opened district play on Tuesday welcoming Shelbyville to the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym.  After blitzing Tullahoma on Monday night, the Lady Raiders got their 2nd straight sweep in dispatching the Eaglettes.  Coffee County won by set scores of 25-13, 25-11 and 25-19. The Temple Baptist Christian School volleyball team hosted Shenandoah Baptist on Tuesday night at the E.C. Bailey Gym.   The balanced Lady Eagle team played nearly flawlessly as they rolled to a 4 set win over the visitors from Cleveland, TN.  Temple won by set scores of 25-14, 25-15, 23-25 and 25-15.  Grace Butler had a strong service game for Temple as she finished with 7 aces including an ace on match point. The Coffee Middle School football team hosted Baylor on Tuesday afternoon in the first home game of the season.  Coming off a pair of heart-breaking road losses, the Red Raiders were looking to get into the win column for the first time this season.  Trailing 24 to 0 entering the 4th quarter, the Red Raiders rallied but came up short in a 24 to 14 loss.
